Afternoon, Sunday, June 1, 2025, Miami, Florida
Well, folks, meteorological summer is off to a wet, gray, and thunderous start.
As I write this, it is a hot and cloudy Sunday afternoon in my corner of South Florida. The temperature is 87°F (31°C) under cloudy conditions. With the wind blowing from the west-southwest at 8 MPH (12 Km/H) and humidity at 59%, the feels-like temperature is 91°F (33°C). A thunderstorm moved through the neighborhood earlier, so I’m posting late on WordPress, and we might see at least one more storm later, even though the forecast calls for the rain to stop later. We’ve already reached the predicted high of 87°F (31°C); with all these clouds and rainstorms in the area, I doubt it will be hotter the rest of the day.
Since it is Sunday, and because thunderstorms may pass this way later, I won’t be working on Comings and Goings. I’m not in a rush to publish it; Reunion: Coda – my first novel – has been out less than two months, and I must promote that as best I can. That’s a difficult aspect of the self-publishing industry. I’m a good writer, I have no doubts about that. But I’m not comfortable with my other role as self-promoter, something I’ve mentioned at length here before and don’t want to discuss in depth again. Suffice it to say that I’ll work on the short story – for that’s what Comings and Goings is – several days a week, and do other tasks – including, ugh, marketing – during the rest of the workweek.

May ended on a promising note, with readers picking up copies of Reunion: Coda in places as diverse as Kentucky and Spain. While the Kindle e-book remains the top seller, a handful of hardcovers and paperbacks have found their way into readers’ hands as well. To date, four thoughtful reviews of the novel have appeared on Amazon and WordPress, with hope for more to come. If you haven’t yet experienced the story, now’s your chance—visit Amazon to order your copy today and join the growing community of readers discovering Reunion: Coda.
