Late Morning, Sunday, June 8, 2025, Miami, Florida

It’s another scorchingly hot early summer day in South Florida, even though the sun has only been up a couple of hours on this first full weekend of June 2025. As I write this, it’s not even 9 AM, and the temperature is 83°F (28°C) under mostly sunny conditions. With relative humidity at a sticky 84% and a weak southwesterly breeze of 2 MPH (3 Km/H), it feels like 96°F (37°C). Of course, it’s going to be hotter by midafternoon; the forecast for the area calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 90°F (32°C).

Thankfully, I live in a nice air-conditioned house with lots of shade trees, and my bedroom has Venetian blinds, so I’m safe from the heat. Still, it’s too hot to venture outside for long periods, and the UV levels are also a deterrent to unnecessary outdoor activities unless you apply lots of sunscreen and wear a broad-brimmed hat and long-sleeved shirts to protect your skin from the murderous Florida sun.

Be like Lisa…get a copy of Reunion: Coda!

I’ve been so busy with my writing activities (writing a new short story, editing a Reunion-related project, blogging every day, and marketing Reunion: Coda) that I missed participating in Kymber’s “Get to Know You #67” from late May.

Ah well. Better late than never, right? Right?

Here are the three questions:

  1. What color best describes your personality?
  2. If animals could talk, which species would be the nicest?
  3. Did you keep a journal or diary when you were young? If so, do you still have it?

And here are my answers:

  1. Blue. Physically, I’ve always loved blue. My birthstone (March) is aquamarine, and when I was a kid, I spent lots of time looking up at the sky. Both my parents worked for airlines way before they met and got married; Mom was a flight attendant for Avianca for a while in the ‘50s, and Dad was a pilot for Aerocondor before becoming a freelancer and joining a Salvadoran airline, AESA in the early ‘60s. Dad died working for AESA, but my mom never discouraged me from having an interest in aviation or being a dreamer.  (Metaphorically, I suffer from bouts of depression and anxiety, so “blue” is a good descriptor for my moods, too.)
  2. Dogs. If you know, you know.
  3. In college, and only because it was part of my ENC-2301 requirements. I still have it – somewhere.

  1. It is hot here in Dallas too, currently 93 degrees real feel 105. It is humid because it has been raining on off today (not much though). I picked green but I like blue too.

    1. Ah. Life in the Deep South means, for good or ill (or both!) searing hot summers.

      C’est la vie.
