On Writing and Storytelling: Giving Jim Garraty’s First Book a Voice in ‘Reunion: A Story’ Audiobook

Reunion: A Story—A Voice Found

Some stories wait patiently for the right voice.

Today, Reunion: A Story found its narrator.

Brandon Padilla’s audition carried emotional clarity and quiet resonance. From his first message, it was clear he saw  Jim Garraty—not just as a character, but as someone worth spending time with. His words: “I love your style of book so I’d have no problem sinking time into this one.” That kind of devotion matters.

Reunion: A Story is the first volume of a two-book cycle.

I’ve offered Brandon the gig. We’re working on a shared royalties arrangement, with a checkpoint set for October 10 and a final deadline of December 1. If all goes well, Reunion: A Story will be ready for release by Christmas—a quiet gift for those who’ve walked with Jim, and those just beginning.

Production hasn’t begun yet. But the emotional groundwork has.

Welcome, Brandon. Let’s tell this story together.
