Adventures in Audiobook Production: Celebrating the First Garratyverse Audiobook…and the Fine Art of Creative Collaboration

The final Canva Pro cover for the Comings and Goings Audible edition.

🎧 Comings and Goings Is Now on Audible!

Well, we did it! Yesterday afternoon, our audiobook adaptation of Comings and Goings officially went live on Audible. The release was briefly delayed because my original cover design didn’t meet ACX’s requirements—borders, I discovered, are a big no‑no—but once I corrected that, the project cleared review.

The original, problematic cover was rejected because it has a border.

The heart of the audiobook, of course, is Bryan’s excellent narration. His performance sailed through ACX’s vetting process and my own careful listening without a single retake. As I told my readers earlier today, Bryan gave Jim Garraty a voice that matches almost exactly how I imagined him when writing the three existing “Garratyverse” stories (Reunion: A Story, Reunion: Coda, and Comings and Goings). That’s no easy feat, but Bryan pulled it off beautifully.

I’ve been promoting our collaboration on my blogs—especially A Certain Point of View, Too—and across social media. With luck, we’ll attract listeners and, yes, earn some royalties. Even small acts of support, like asking friends and family to buy and listen, can help us gain traction in the literary world.

I’m deeply grateful to Bryan for his outstanding work as producer and narrator. The quality of his performance delights me, and I’m glad he accepted this project.

Here’s to the next chapter in the Garratyverse—and to sharing Comings and Goings with listeners everywhere.
