Hi, everyone.
I’m still working on The Jim Garraty Chronicles despite my misgivings about my ability to cope with Kindle Create’s formatting issues and low expectations for how well it will sell once I publish it. Fixing subheads and nitpicking the text for errors I missed when I published Reunion: A Story, Reunion: Coda, and Comings and Goings – The Art of Being Seen are, of course, of paramount importance, but they’re time-consuming and soul-killing chores. So, I’m making less progress on the omnibus edition than I’d like, but I’m also not going to give up on the project. It’s a matter of pride, you see, and since I don’t have definitive ideas for a new story, I’m pressing on, even though it’s not as exciting as writing a first novel was.

Speaking of Reunion: Coda, this month saw two copies sold for a projected royalties payment of $8.43. According to Kindle Direct Publishing, both purchases were of the Kindle e-book edition. There was also a small uptick in sales of Comings and Goings, with two copies sold – one paperback, one e-book – for a projected payment of $5.80. Unless there are more sales this month, I stand to earn the princely sum of $14.23.

This is a far cry from what I dreamed of when I chose this creative path in the spring of 1978, but $14.23 and a smattering of positive reviews are better than total apathy and no royalties at all.
If you’ve heard about any of the Jim Garraty stories—or if you’ve been meaning to pick them up—this is a wonderful time to buy your copies. Reunion: A Story, Reunion: Coda, and Comings and Goings – The Art of Being Seen are all available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble Online, and any bookstore with access to KDP’s Extended Distribution can order them. And if you’ve already read them but haven’t left a review yet, even a short one makes a real difference. Your support helps keep this journey alive
