Friday, January 30, 2026 — Orlando, Florida

It’s early afternoon here in Central Florida, and while the weather is cooler than usual — 69°F (21°C) under bright, steady sunshine — it’s still a lovely late‑January day. Several cold‑weather alerts remain in effect until February 1, but the chill will pass soon enough. No snow, no ice, no drama… just a brief reminder that even Florida gets the occasional shiver.

Things are quiet on the writing front. I haven’t yet opened the Kindle Create file for The Jim Garraty Chronicles, and unless inspiration strikes by mid‑afternoon, I may simply call it a day. My enthusiasm for this project isn’t quite what it was when I was writing Reunion: Coda. It’s not a matter of laziness — far from it. It’s the combination of Kindle Create’s finicky formatting tools and the modest number of reviews for Reunion: Coda and Comings and Goings – The Art of Being Seen on Amazon and personal blogs. I still plan to publish the omnibus; I’m just not racing toward the finish line.

On a brighter note, Reunion: Coda will be on sale soon. From 8 AM on February 1 through 8 AM on February 8, the Kindle edition will be available for $1.99 on Amazon’s U.S. marketplace — a 67% discount from the regular $6.00 price. If you haven’t picked it up yet (and you’re not a Kindle Unlimited subscriber), this is an excellent chance to do so.

As for royalties, my January estimate climbed to $21.97, just as I expected. I recently sent updated copies of Reunion: A Story and Comings and Goings to my friend Betsy in the Atlanta metro area. She already owns earlier editions, but I wanted her to have the revised versions as a small thank‑you for her steady support. Because KDP doesn’t count a sale until Amazon ships the order, the bump didn’t appear on my dashboard until late last night, when the books left Hebron, Kentucky at 10:12 PM. They should reach her tomorrow.

So unless someone purchases a Kindle edition of any of my books before the month ends, January’s projected royalties will remain at $21.97 — $9.53 from two copies of Comings and Goings, $8.43 from two Kindle copies of Reunion: Coda, and $4.01 from a mix of the paperback edition of Reunion: A Story and KENP royalties from a Kindle Unlimited read.

The Garratyverse

I’m still hoping to squeeze in at least an hour of work on The Jim Garraty Chronicles before 3 PM. If not, I may settle in to watch The Long Walk, the 2025 film adaptation of the Stephen King (a.k.a. Richard Bachman) novel. I read the book years ago — and yes, that’s where I borrowed Jim Garraty’s last name. Serendipity at its finest.

If you’ve been meaning to pick up Reunion: Coda, the upcoming Kindle sale is a perfect moment to do it. From February 1 through February 8, the e‑book will be just $1.99 on Amazon’s U.S. store—a small thank‑you to everyone who’s followed my work, encouraged me, or simply taken the time to read these updates. Your support means more than you know, and I hope you enjoy revisiting Jim, Marty, and the rest of the gang at a bargain‑bin price.
