Hello, friends!
We’ve officially wrapped up the first week of February—and what a week it was. Central Florida got an unexpected brush with the Arctic; the kind of cold snap that makes you wonder if you’ve accidentally wandered into a Weather Channel documentary. Tuesday and Wednesday brought both freeze and fire alerts to Orange County, a combination only Florida could pull off. Thankfully, the chill has packed its bags and headed south, leaving behind a sky so blue it almost feels like an apology.

Right now, it’s a pleasant 64°F (18°C), with sunshine pouring down like it’s making up for lost time. We’re headed toward a picture-perfect Saturday with a high of 69°F (21°C). Maybe not quite shorts-and-sandals territory, but compared to my old New England stomping grounds—currently slogging through a gloomy, bone-rattling 23°F (-5°C)—I’ll take this “Florida winter” without a single complaint.

In far warmer news: my beloved Lenovo IdeaCentre all‑in‑one PC has triumphantly returned to life. After a few days hunched over my pint-sized laptop (and muttering about tiny screens and tinny speakers), the cavalry arrived yesterday in the form of a genuine Lenovo power supply—no questionable “compatible” parts this time. Now I’m back to the simple joys of a full-sized keyboard, a bright, roomy display, and speakers with enough oomph that I don’t need headphones just to hear my music or sneak in a quick game.

Even better, I can finally dive back into The Jim Garraty Chronicles in Kindle Create. I’m not expecting bestseller fireworks, but I am determined to finish this omnibus—if only to keep my conscience clear and avoid any lingering “quitter” vibes.
I’m grateful to have a backup laptop when I need it, but I’m doubly relieved the main PC’s issue was just a dead power brick and not something catastrophic. A new computer would’ve meant dropping $700–$900, and that’s a plot twist my wallet is absolutely not prepared for.
Since it’s Saturday, though, I’m permitting myself to leave The Jim Garraty Chronicles alone for the day. Weekends are for breathing, unwinding, and not obsessing over self-imposed deadlines. Monday will be here soon enough.

Before I go, a quick reminder: the Kindle edition of Reunion: Coda is still on sale for $1.99 through tomorrow—67% off the regular $6.00 price. That’s less than a Starbucks coffee. If you’ve been meaning to meet Jim, Marty, Mark, and Maddie—or know someone who might enjoy the story—this is a great moment to grab it at a discount.
