Hello there, dear reader—
Well, here we are, smack in the middle of another workweek in Central Florida. It’s a cool, gray, late‑winter Wednesday, with the world outside draped in clouds—think more moody Russian play than sun‑drenched vacation postcard. As I sit here, it’s 63 °F (17 °C) and mostly cloudy. Not exactly flip‑flop weather, but after my early childhood years in Bogota and my shorter stint in icy New Hampshire, I’ll gladly take “Florida chilly” over “New England frosty” any day. Today’s high is only supposed to reach 76 °F (24 °C), but honestly, I’ll trade piles of snow for a few stubborn clouds without hesitation.

On the writing front, progress is being made. Yesterday afternoon, I chipped away at the edits for The Jim Garraty Chronicles, the omnibus that corrals Reunion: A Story, Reunion: Coda, and Comings and Goings – The Art of Being Seen. I’ll admit I haven’t wrangled all the unruly subheadings in Book Two just yet—there are a lot of them, and my patience is only human—but I did manage to add vignette titles to that pivotal chapter, Goodbye, Farewell, and Adios, in the draft I slid into the Chronicles. It’s the little victories that keep the wheels turning.
Four fresh vignette titles appeared yesterday, along with the triumphant return of Close Encounters of the Bittersweet Kind—a title that existed in the published Reunion: Coda but mysteriously vanished from the draft added to the omnibus. How it disappeared from the depths of Word between April and October 2025 is a mystery even Sherlock Holmes would shrug at. Still, I restored it and concocted four new vignette titles along the way. It sounds simple, but every creative task has its invisible hurdles. Compared to wrestling with Kindle Create’s wobbly formatting, though, dreaming up a few evocative titles was almost a treat.

Those stubborn subheadings are still on my to‑do list, but after a well‑earned midday break, I’ll be back at them. Persistence is key.

In other news—big milestone alert. This morning, I received my very first payment from Automattic, Inc., the fine folks behind WordPress, for WordAds on this blog. I’m now $100.72 richer in my PayPal account, thanks to those little ads that help keep A Certain Point of View, Too humming along. It took nearly six years of blogging to reach that first payout, but hey—that’s still a sprint compared to the ten years it took to hit the same mark on my old Google Blogger site. Progress, my friends, is progress.

Before I wrap up, I want to offer a heartfelt “thank you” to everyone who has read, purchased, or reviewed the Jim Garraty books—whether on Amazon, Goodreads, or on your own blogs. Your support means more than I can say. If you’ve enjoyed Reunion: A Story, Reunion: Coda, or Comings and Goings – The Art of Being Seen, I’d be grateful if you’d consider leaving a review or recommending the books to a friend. And if you haven’t picked them up yet, they’re all available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble Online, and through any bookstore that can order via KDP’s Extended Distribution.
Every purchase, every review, every kind word helps keep this writing journey going.
More soon—once I’ve tamed those subheadings.
