¡Hola, amigos!
Hello, friends!

It’s a warm, humid spring afternoon here in Central Florida. As I type this, it’s 82°F (28°C) under partly sunny skies. The humidity is sitting at 56%, with a light 4 MPH breeze drifting in from the east-southeast. Thanks to that moisture in the air, the heat index is already up to 91°F (33°C). We may get a few light showers later, but as for the day’s high—we’ve already hit it.

This afternoon’s project is the same one that’s been testing my patience all week: cleaning up those stubborn subheadings in the Kindle Create draft of The Jim Garraty Chronicles, especially in Book 2, Reunion: Coda. In theory, it’s simple enough—open each chapter or transition scene, check the subheads for Kindle Create’s overzealous capitalization, and fix them using the Advanced Formatting tools.

But as I learned back in my journalism days at Miami-Dade Community College, theory is one thing. Practical reality is something else entirely.
I’ve talked about this Kindle Create quirk before, so I won’t belabor the point. Let’s just say this part of the pre-publication process is a slog—boring, repetitive, and more than a little irritating. And yes, it’s slowing down my progress on the omnibus.
Still, I’ll keep at it. After a much‑needed mid‑afternoon break, I’ll head back to the desk and knock out as many of those misbehaving subheads as I can.
