It’s late morning here in Lithia, Florida, on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Even though noon is – as I begin this post, anyway – less than two hours away, it’s already 87°F/31°C under mostly sunny conditions, and it’s going to be hotter still. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 96°F/35°C. And that’s just the official temperature – the feels-like one is now at 97°F/36°C, so later this afternoon it will feel like it is in the low 100s/40s.

Definitely, as folks used to say in the 1960s, that’s not my bag, man.

Moving on…

Well, last night I received an email from Kindle Direct Publishing with this bit of news:

Congratulations, your paperback, “Reunion: A Story,” is published on Amazon. If you republished your book with updates, your changes are now live.

What’s next

  • Availability. It takes up to 3 days for Amazon.com and up to 5 days for other marketplaces to show as in stock.
  • Linking. The detail pages of your print book and eBook should link within 48 hours, but it can take up to 5 days. See requirements for linking.
  • Product description. It can take 24-48 hours to appear on the detail page.
  • Look Inside the Book. This feature will be available in 9-10 business days.
  • Book Details. Changes to contributor, series name, series number, page count, description, keywords, and browse categories take up to 72 hours to appear.
  • Learn more about publishing timelines.

Now that this third edition has been published and gone “live” – as it were – I must turn my attention to Reunion: Coda, which I had to put on the back burner while I fixed Reunion’s remaining issues.

The question for today, since it is the Fourth of July, and it is a holiday, is: do I work on it today? Or do I take the day off and wait till tomorrow to tackle the manuscript?

Ah….I wish…..Photo by Ekaterina Nt on Pexels.com

As it is, I’m leaning towards taking the day off, despite the fact that I have no one to hang out with here, and despite my frustration with not being able to go see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. I need the rest; I spent most of my long weekend working on the revisions – sometimes as early as 5 AM! – and now I’m tired, irritated, and not in a “Let’s write a novel today!” mood.

I don’t know what exactly I will do today after I publish this post (besides, of course, obvious things like taking a shower, getting into a fresh change of clothes, and doing a few chores). I might read for a while – you can’t be a good writer unless you are also a voracious reader, after all – or maybe watch a movie out on the family room set.

Other options include:

  • Gaming
  • Listening to music
  • Hanging out online on social media

Of course, if I get bored or if I can’t resist the urge to work on Reunion: Coda, I might do some writing later. I don’t on it, and – honestly – I would rather not.

Oh, yeah, before I forget….here’s a not-so-good picture of the Force Spirits three-figure Star Wars The Black Series (Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary) set I bought from Hasbro Pulse as my “60th Birthday Present from Me to Me.” I’m not a skilled photographer, so this is the best I could do.

I don’t have much else to say, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, Dear Reader, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

My vote is that you should take the day off.

    1. Alas. Revisions needed to be made.

I did take SOME time off. Just…not enough.

  2. Oh I didn’t realize that your third revision of Reunion is finished and available. And I saw your price special. That was fast! I am going to get it right now. Congratulations on the release of your update. I am looking forward to Reunion Coda.

    1. Actually, I had to do yet another revision this afternoon. A tiny, nearly insignificant (to the average person) detail, but for me, the guy whose name is on the cover, it is a vexing one. And, ironically, one of the mistakes that started this process of revisions, edits, and reissues.

I fixed it, but it is so frustrating at times!

  3. Oh I can’t buy it because I already did. I guess when you update an eBook the update is carried over to the eBook you already bought.

    1. That’s right. It will take 48-72 hours for the update to “take.” Make sure your devices are set for automatic updates.
