My Revised Copy of the ‘Jim Garraty Chronicles’ is Here!

A few minutes ago I walked out to the street-side mailbox and retrieved my latest Amazon delivery — the freshly printed, newly revised copy of The Jim Garraty Chronicles: A Life in Four Movements. I haven’t had time for a deep inspection yet; the ink is practically still warm, and the Postal Service also gave me my monthly MasterCard bill, a far less welcome arrival. Still, I did flip to the sections where the earlier omnibus betrayed its most obvious blemishes, especially in Reunion: Coda.

According to the back matter, this copy rolled off the press yesterday right here in Orlando, which means it’s almost certainly based on the corrected file I uploaded to KDP last week. The duplicated paragraph in Book Two is gone at last. Kindle Create still insists on capitalizing every word in the “Books by This Author” headers — a quirk I’ve resigned myself to — but at least the series name now reads The Jim Garraty Chronicles instead of the overly narrow Reunion Duology. With four stories in the canon, including Comings and Goings and the once‑blog‑exclusive The Summer of Two Movies, the broader title finally matches the reality.

I’ve shelved this new edition on my modest bookcase, and I think I’ve finally chased down the last of the glaring errors that slipped into the first printing. After three years immersed in Reunion: Coda, Comings and Goings, and The Summer of Two Movies, I need to step back from Jim Garraty’s world for a bit and read other authors again. There’s at least one more Garraty story on my horizon, but it won’t be rushed — not a quarter‑century gap like the one between Reunion: A Story and Reunion: Coda, but certainly not the two‑month sprint that separated Books Two and Three.
