Hi, everyone.

I’m still—somewhat reluctantly—on vacation from Professional Daydreaming™, so I don’t have any updates on And the Horse You Rode In On… or other projects in the works.

This break from creative writing feels strange. After a long, frustrating stretch of “salutary neglect” toward long-form fiction—I wrote Reunion: A Story in 1998, published its first, mostly unpolished edition in 2018, and reissued it in its current form in 2023, just weeks before my current Busy Era began—I’ve spent the past three years following a steady routine: blogging in the morning and writing fiction in the afternoon.

I don’t have much to say today. It’s Laundry Day, and while my loads aren’t enormous or all-afternoon affairs, the chore still takes time and attention. The small batch I put in the dryer 90 minutes ago should be dry by now, so I’ll be sorting and folding it soon.

Other than that, no hay novedad, you know?
