It’s another hot and humid Saturday morning here in Central Florida—the kind of morning that reminds me I’m very much in Orlando in August. The temperature is already 83°F (28°C) under partly sunny skies, with 88% humidity and a southeast breeze at 8 MPH (13 km/h), making it feel closer to 95°F (35°C). Scattered light rain showers are in the forecast, and the high should reach 90°F (32°C).
I also got a small but welcome bit of good news from Kindle Direct Publishing’s daily sales report: The Jim Garraty Chronicles sold another copy this week, bringing August’s processed orders to three. No, it won’t make literary headlines or land me on a bestseller list, but it still felt good to see. Next month’s royalty payment will be a little larger—and a little more encouraging: an estimated $14.67 instead of $9.78.
It may be a modest milestone, but it gave me a reason to smile this morning—and that’s not a bad way to begin the weekend.
