A Hardcover at Last

After a surprising amount of wrestling with KDP’s trim sizes, templates, and cover quirks, The Jim Garraty Chronicles will finally be available as a hardcover edition. It took more doing than I expected — a page‑count limit forced me to change the trim size, which in turn forced a complete redesign of the cover — but the finished book looks better than I imagined.
The hardcover brings together all four stories in one volume: Reunion, Reunion: Coda, Comings and Goings, and the bonus origin tale, The Summer of Two Movies. Seeing them collected like this, with a sturdy spine and a clean, classic layout, feels like the right way to present Jim Garraty’s early life and the emotional arc that shaped him.

I also chose to use a photo from my college days — one taken when I received a journalism award. It felt fitting to include an image from the time when my writing life was just beginning.
The hardcover is priced at $29.99, features cream-colored pages, and should be available on Amazon in around 72 hours. I don’t expect a rush of buyers; this edition is mostly for me, and maybe a few friends who’ve followed Jim’s journey over the years. But I’m glad it exists. After all the drafts, revisions, and quiet hours spent building this world, it’s satisfying to hold a version meant to last.
Sometimes you publish something simply because it feels good to finish it. This one does.
