Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Buy The Jim Garraty Chronicles Omnibus

Thursday, October 1, 2026 – Orlando, Florida

1. Because Jim has been around longer than most streaming services. Jim Garraty first showed up during the latter days of the Reagan Administration—back when phones had cords and “binge-watching” meant staying up past midnight. I’ve been writing his story since the Clinton Administration, which means this omnibus is basically artisanal, slow‑cooked fiction.

2. It’s four stories for the price of three. You get Reunion, Reunion: Coda, Comings and Goings, and the bonus origin story The Summer of Two Movies, which originally lived exclusively on my blog. That’s right—blog-exclusive content, now liberated for the masses.

3. It’s available in three formats, because I believe in reader freedom. Kindle, paperback, and hardcover. Whether you’re a digital minimalist, a paperback purist, or someone who likes a book sturdy enough to fend off a small bear, you’re covered.

4. It’s a time machine that doesn’t require plutonium. These stories trace Jim’s early life through the 1980s—friendships, memories, turning points, and all the emotional archaeology that makes a person who they become. No flux capacitor needed.

5. It’s warm, nostalgic, and deeply human—without being syrupy. You won’t need a tissue box, but you might pause once or twice and think, “Huh. I’ve been there.” Jim’s journey is relatable in the best way: quietly emotional, gently funny, and grounded in real-life moments.

6. It’s basically a friendship documentary disguised as fiction. Jim’s world is shaped by the people who drift in, drift out, and leave marks that last. If you’ve ever had a friend who changed your life—even briefly—you’ll get it.

7. It’s perfect for readers who like character-driven stories. Plot twists are great, but sometimes you want to sit with a character and watch him grow, stumble, remember, and try again. Jim’s story rewards readers who enjoy the slow burn of real human development.

8. It’s a nostalgia trip that doesn’t require remembering disco. The 1980s were more than neon and questionable hair choices. Jim’s story taps into the quieter side of the era—the friendships, the neighborhoods, the small discoveries that stick with you.

9. It’s written by someone who’s been living with these characters for decades. I’ve spent more time with Jim Garraty than some people spend with their houseplants. That kind of long-term creative relationship means the stories have depth, continuity, and emotional resonance you can’t fake.

10. Because the story continues—and you’ll want to be there for it. This omnibus isn’t an ending. It’s a foundation. A doorway. A “previously on Jim Garraty’s life…” before the next chapter arrives.

    1. The omnibus?

I am, obviously, biased. But I think the collection is not only economical (four stories in a single volume); it’s also a better-presented version of the Jim Garraty stories. I edited the text in “Reunion: Coda” in some places, and I omitted the illustrations cos, as much as I liked them, they weren’t stylistically consistent.

Thank you for your continuing support of my stories, Pooj.

      1. You’re most welcome. I agree, I think it’s worth getting them all together rather than one at a time.
