The $5.93 is the amount of royalties I’ll be paid for one sale of the paperback edition.

Six New Readers, One Work in Progress, and a Return to 1976

The free Kindle promotion for The Jim Garraty Chronicles: A Life Told in Four Movements is over, and six readers downloaded copies during the promotion.

To those six readers: thank you.

I hope you enjoy meeting Jim Garraty, his friends, and the various people who wander into, out of, and occasionally back into his life.

Meanwhile, I’ve returned to work on And the Horse You Rode in On….

I’m currently spending a lot of my writing time in 1976, when Jim is eleven years old and discovering that sixth grade contains homework, friendships, rivalries, embarrassing conversations, and considerably more social complexity than anyone bothered to warn him about.

That’s about all I’m going to say.

No spoilers.

The story has been coming together nicely, though, and one of the pleasures of writing it has been discovering how much of the later Jim Garraty is already present in the boy he was. Some things change. Some don’t. Some things only make sense years later.

Thanks again to everyone who took advantage of the Kindle promotion.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to 1976.
