Forgotten Dreams

She played a song of forgotten dreams
On the old piano in the bar
She sang of love and loss and hope
Her voice was soft and clear as a star

He listened with his heart and soul
He felt a connection he couldn’t explain
He saw the beauty in her eyes
He felt the joy and the pain

They talked for hours until the night was late
They shared their stories and their fears
They found out they had a common past
They laughed and cried and dried their tears

She kissed him gently on the lips
She said she’d call him the next day
She got into a cab and waved goodbye
She left him with a smile and a promise to stay

He watched her go with hope and wonder
He felt a spark that he couldn’t deny
He thought of her as he walked home
He looked at the moon and sighed

Maybe this was the start of something new
Maybe this was the end of his lonely blues
Maybe she was the one he’d been waiting for
Maybe she was his forgotten dream come true.
