Early Afternoon, Sunday, March 3, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hi, everyone. It’s a nice, mild early spring day here in eastern New Hampshire (or “Almost Maine). Currently, the temperature is 52°F (12°C) under cloudy conditions. With humidity at 58% and the wind blowing from the north-northeast at 7 MPH (11 Km/H), the feels-like temperature is 52°F (12°C). The forecast for today calls for mostly cloudy days and a high of 57°F (14°C). Tonight, we can expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 31°F (0°C).

Well, sports fans, I’m a bit late writing my daily blog post because I went to town with Marc, Patti’s husband, to restock my food supplies. This time around we went to Walmart instead of Market Basket, and I bought, I believe, enough stuff to last between 10 days and two weeks (except, of course, milk and orange juice. I bought the usual mix of breakfast, lunch, and dinner vittles, plus snacks and – ta-da – my first-ever just-for-me six-bottle pack of Heineken beer.

I’m not a big fan of drinking booze, but I am not a prissy teetotaler, either, and every so often I do enjoy a beer or two. I also like the occasional bottle of Seagram’s Escapes flavored malt drinks, or a Cuba Libre, but only in social occasions – drinking alone…it ain’t my bag, as they used to say in the Sixties.

So, anyway, yeah. Today is the first day in a long time when I don’t need to be wearing a winter jacket or gloves; we’re in a “warming trend,” as my Weather app says, and the snow is beginning to melt and turn Huttwill Drive and other non-paved roads into muddy tracks. It feels almost as though I was back in Florida on a cold afternoon, like the ones I experienced in my last residence down South. And, you know, it felt good going out of the house, even if it was just to run an errand, albeit an important one.

Weekend Update, Part the First: Getting Into – and Staying In – Weekend Mode (Saturday)

(C) 2022, 2023 Bird’s Eye Games & MicroProse

My Saturday was…uneventful and, despite my frets about my progress with Reunion: Coda, relaxing. I didn’t work on the novel, not even for a minute, even though it took a lot of self-discipline for me to get into a mindset of  “It’s the weekend!”

I wish I could say that I went out on a date or even into town to see a movie. Alas, I have not met any potential future girlfriends, nor did I go to Conway or North Conway until today, and that was to go, as I mentioned earlier, food shopping.

No, I wasn’t that lucky, folks. Instead, I spent most of my Saturday either killing lots of time on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts or playing Regiments (three times in one day!)

As for today?

I’ll try to switch things up a bit at some point today. I should take some time to watch a movie or read a book instead of staying at my desk all day. I don’t have all of my movies unpacked because the media towers are not complete, but I have enough of them at hand to watch something on my 4K UHD TV in my bedroom.

We’ll see what develops.

If you want to meet Jim Garraty, the protagonist of Reunion: Coda, you can read the first book of the Reunion Duology…if you haven’t already, that is.
