Hi, Dear Readers.

It’s early afternoon here in Central Florida, and the heat has settled in like an uninvited guest who refuses to take the hint. As I type this, it’s 90°F (32°C) under partly sunny skies, the kind of sunshine that looks friendly until you actually step outside. With a west wind barely stirring at 4 MPH (9 Km/H) and humidity at 52%, the heat index has climbed to a toasty 99°F (37°C). In other words: classic May-in-Orlando weather, where even the shade feels like it’s running a fever.

The forecast promises light rain showers drifting across Orange County later today. I’m rooting for them. We’ve been short on rain this year, and even a brief sprinkle would be a welcome break from the relentless dry heat. Plus, a little cooling wouldn’t hurt.

I chose the new style for the chapters and subheadings. I’ll have to do this for the Reunion: Coda file later.

As for news…well, it’s one of those quiet, workmanlike days. I’m still deep in the trenches with The Jim Garraty Chronicles in Kindle Create. More accurately, I will be once I finish my early afternoon rest break and gather the willpower to wrestle with that app again. To dodge its maddening habit of capitalizing Every Single Word in subheadings, I’ve switched to using the chapter subtitle element instead. It’s not elegant, but it’s far less aggravating than manually correcting the app’s stubborn formatting quirks. Time-consuming, yes. Soul-crushing, no.

Beyond that, life rolls on under this heavy late-spring heat dome. Here’s hoping the forecasted showers actually materialize and give us a brief, blessed cooldown.

Stay cool out there, and I’ll catch you on the rainy side of things.
