Remembering Marty: A Ballad Based on ‘Reunion: A Story’ 2.0

There once was a boy named Jim
Who had a crush on Marty
But Marty had a boyfriend
Who was jealous and quite snarky

Jim sang with Marty in the choir
And he felt a secret desire
But he never dared to show it
For he feared that Kenny’d blow it

Marty dumped her boyfriend one day
And Jim thought he’d make his play
But he was too shy to ask her out
So he kept his feelings in a drought

He wrote her a letter of love and regret
And he gave it to her on the last day of school
He hoped that she would read it and call
But he never got to hear from her at all

He waited for the graduation day
But then he lost her in the crowd
He wondered if she had read his letter
And if she felt his love so proud

He wished he could find her and talk to her
And tell her that she was his star
But all he had were memories
And a longing that he couldn’t mar

I’m a novelist, not a lyricist! If you want to get the REAL story, buy a copy of my novella, available in paperback or e-book at Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s online store.
